"A legal and Human Rights vision of the lack of integrity and legitimacy of the presidential elections in Syria"

We are honored to invite you to attend a seminar entitled

"A legal and Human Rights vision of the lack of integrity and legitimacy of the presidential elections in Syria"

Topics of the seminar

1-definition of democracy and elections based on the Charter of the United Nations.

2-the right of the Syrian people and the Syrian civil society to request international supervision over the legitimacy of the elections in accordance with the principle stipulated in the Universal Declaration of human rights.

3-international legal, human rights and humanitarian measures that the Syrian civil society can rely on by rejecting the legitimacy of the elections internationally and obliging the Damascus regime to international standards for holding free and fair elections.

4-mechanisms of communication with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the United Nations Volunteers program, the United Nations Organization for women, the United Nations Office for Project Services, UNESCO, the Peacebuilding Fund and the United Nations Democracy Fund to inform them about legal and legitimate abuses and expose the repressive organs of the regime and to take decisions to stop the farce of the elections and their non-recognition internationally.

Background of the seminar

We, individuals, organizations, bodies and institutions of Syrian civil society, are united by Hope and Action for a promising Syrian future, in which the single Syrian people will enjoy justice, security and freedom, and as we affirm the invalidity of the election mechanism in total detail, we declare our total and categorical rejection of the play that was falsely called "presidential elections", especially as it contradicts the human rights System, Security Council laws and other international efforts to build security and peace in Syria, and declare and confirm our categorical rejection of any regional or international normalization with the illegitimate results that will result from presidential elections", which are known in advance.

We ask that the elections of the Damascus regime not be recognized because they do not meet the conditions and standards of the Syrian constitution and applicable international laws.

For the following reasons:

- The unconstitutionality and legality of the elections held by the Syrian regime due to the failure to fully comply with the general rules governing the electoral process, and the forced absence of more than half of the Syrian people from the electoral process.

- The electoral process contradicts the UN Charter, especially in light of the Syrian regime's categorical rejection of UN supervision and control over the elections, and the complete absence of integrity, transparency and independent civilian oversight institutions.

- Holding illegal elections under unfair conditions, outside the framework of Security Council resolution 2245 on the political settlement of the Syrian conflict.
